“You’re not making it up. Your pain is real, and your body isn't a mystery—it's just complex.”
If you've been told your pain is normal, your labs look fine, or that being flexible is a good thing — and you're still struggling every day — you are not alone. Most clinicians don't know what to do with a hypermobile body. We do.
Flourish Physical Therapy specializes in hEDS, HSD, and the full hypermobility spectrum. This is not general physical therapy applied to a complex condition. This is care built around how your body actually works.
Physical therapy for the bodies others couldn't figure out.
Does this sound familiar?
-
You've always been the 'flexible one' — but flexibility has never meant feeling good
-
Your joints feel unstable, clicky, or like they shift out of place
-
You fatigue faster than other people during movement or exercise
-
Pain moves around — it's never just one thing
-
You've been dismissed by doctors, told imaging is normal, or diagnosed with anxiety
-
Previous physical therapy made things worse or didn't hold
-
You may also deal with POTS, MCAS, or GI symptoms alongside joint issues
-
If you recognized yourself in that list, you're in the right place.
What treatment looks like at Flourish
Every patient starts with a full 55-minute evaluation. We look at moving patterns and compensations.
Your plan is built around specific pattern of instability and daily capacity.
Sessions may include manual therapy, neuromuscular strengthening, and proprioceptive training.
We work alongside your other providers (naturopaths, cardiologists, etc.) to coordinate care.
Complexity varies, and we'll be honest with you about recovery expectations.
Why standard PT often fails hypermobile patients
Most physical therapy protocols are designed for stiff or post-surgical bodies. They load too fast, stretch too much, and ignore the nervous system.
No aggressive stretching. You don't need more range — you need control.
Paced load building. Too much too fast triggers flare-ups.
Nervous system regulation. Treatment has to address protective tension directly.
Stability from the inside out. The goal is joint confidence and proprioception.
Why work with
Dr. Kinsey Winter, DPT
Dr. Kinsey Winter lives with hypermobility herself. Her clinical path started with a career-ending dance injury in a medical system that didn't understand her body — which is why she built a practice that does.
Her certifications — DPT, COMT, CSCS, CDNS — reflect a deliberately broad clinical toolkit. Hypermobile patients are complex. Treatment has to be too.
Understanding the Spectrum
Nervous System Informed Hypermobility Care
Living with hEDS or HSD means your body is constantly processing more than others realize. When joints lack natural end-range feedback, the nervous system often creates protective tension or pain sensitization. Our approach focuses on autonomic regulation and rebuilding stability from the inside out.
We utilize paced load building to address instability and subluxations without overwhelming your system. By integrating postural awareness and gentle movement, we help you transition from persistent pain to a feeling of safety and confidence in your own body.
